Toronto Maple Leafs defenseman Brandon Carlo missed practice on Tuesday, and with Chris Tanev out of the lineup, there have been fears about the defense core.

Brandon Carlo remains one of the best defensemen on the Toronto Maple Leafs, even if he was a bit soft to start the season.
While he doesn't contribute offensively, he is a shutdown guy who can be played alongside guys like Morgan Rielly. The Maple Leafs need him, and that is especially true now that Chris Tanev is out of the lineup.
Yesterday, Carlo was not present at practice, which led to concerns that he might be injured, especially after blocking a few shots against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Earlier today, the Toronto Maple Leafs learned whether or not Carlo will be in the lineup tonight against the Utah Mammoth.

Brandon Carlo projected to play for the Toronto Maple Leafs

As it turns out, Carlo will, indeed, be playing tonight. Yesterday's absence was purely for maintenance, and now, the defenseman is ready to play.
This is very good for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who are going up against a tough Utah Mammoth team that is 9-4 to start the season.
In contrast, the Toronto Maple Leafs are 7-5-1, and have had their fair share of struggles at the start of this NHL season.
Overall, the Maple Leafs are looking to secure their first three-game winning streak of the regular season, which would be a nice accomplishment.
This weekend, the Leafs are playing the Boston Bruins and the Carolina Hurricanes, which should be pretty interesting.
Either way, a win tonight would be huge, and having Brandon Carlo will help out quite a bit.
