Toronto Maple Leafs Hiring Former Enforcer in New Role

Kyle Clifford is a player whom the Leafs brought in during the middle of the 2021-22 season. Over the course of two seasons with the Leafs, Clifford only played in 25 games.

Over the past three seasons, the forward has mostly spent his time in the AHL, where he has acted as a veteran presence. After all, he does have two Stanley Cups with the Los Angeles Kings to his name.

Unfortunately, with no NHL opportunities in sight, it does feel as though he is coming up on the end of the road of his NHL career.

Interestingly enough, the forward has been spending quite a bit of time around the team as of late, with development camp going down in Toronto.

According to Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun, Clifford is being given a role in the team's development department. As it turns out, this is a gradual transition into life outside of hockey.

It is always good to see when guys stick around the game, especially in roles like this, where they get to mentor the youth.

Clifford must be a cool person to learn from, and we are eager to see what else he will do with the Maple Leafs over the coming days and weeks.

As for his playing career, he has yet to officially call it a career, so he may just have some juice left. Although that remains to be seen.
