The Toronto Maple Leafs need a win against the Buffalo Sabres today, and their starting goalie could be the reason between a win and a loss.
Tonight is a big one for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they need to come through with a win against the Buffalo Sabres.
If they can't get a win tonight, then this team is in some real trouble. They are already six points back of a playoff spot, and the Sabres are ahead of them in the standings.
In order to get the win, the team needs to put the right lineup together. Part of that is putting the right goaltender in the crease.
Of course, the two options are Joseph Woll, who has struggled as of late, and Anthony Stolarz, who is still acclimating himself following an injury.
Who is the starting goalie for the Maple Leafs tonight?
In the end, the Maple Leafs opted to go with the likes of Joseph Woll, as Stolarz continues to work towards a return to play.
Quite frankly, the Leafs have rushed the goaltender, and it has led to disastrous consequences, as he has yet to put up a good performance.
His game against the Las Vegas Golden Knights was a disaster. Tonight, the stakes are even higher, and Stolarz is a huge risk.
Ultimately, there is no telling whether or not Stolarz will be good or bad. What we do know is that his season has been a disaster.
A goals-against average of 3.63 and a save percentage of .880 is unplayable, and yet, here we are.
This is a rough situation for the Maple Leafs, and there is no telling whether or not this team is going to be able to figure it all out.
