Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson is on the trade market, and we now know what the price is going to be if the Toronto Maple Leafs want him.
Rasmus Andersson is currently the most sought-after player on the trade market, and it feels like something is going to get done soon.
His teammates are already saying goodbye to him, and there has been a prevailing narrative that the Boston Bruins and Las Vegas Golden Knights are the top two destinations.
Having said that, the Maple Leafs are reportedly still in the mix, and many are wondering what the price would be for the defenseman.
According to Darren Dreger, the price is pretty steep, and it is unclear if the Leafs would even be able to pay the price as of today.
Calgary Flames make their demands clear
If the Maple Leafs want to make it happen, they must give up a first-round pick, and they will also have to give up a prospect like Easton Cowan.
Ryan Pinder: Re Rasmus Andersson: The rumoured ask is a 1st and a ready to play prospect, someone that's just emerging as an NHLer, does that check out with what you're hearing?
Darren Dreger: Yeah, it does, yep
Darren Dreger: Yeah, it does, yep
At this stage, it does feel unlikely that the Toronto Maple Leafs will end up acquiring Andersson, especially with the Boston Bruins involved.
In fact, the Maple Leafs' 2026 draft pick that was acquired during the Brandon Carlo trade is reportedly up for grabs.
If that is the case, then there will be some Leafs fans out there who will have some mixed feelings about the Carlo deal from last year.
Either way, the Andersson saga has been interesting, and we're sure the Calgary Flames are excited to be done with it.
