The Toronto Maple Leafs have been interested in Calgary Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson for quite some time, and that interest isn't going away.

Rasmus Andersson is a right-handed puck-moving defenseman, which is an archetype the Maple Leafs have been desperate for since last season.
As a result, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has been trying to make a trade for Andersson. Unfortunately, the Flames have not been able to get the defenseman to waive his no-trade clause.
Having said that, the trade deadline is coming up in March, and with each passing week, it appears likelier that Andersson is going to let the Flames move him.
This has proven to be good news for the Maple Leafs, and a new report suggests that Brad Treliving is already doing everything he can to take advantage.

Toronto Maple Leafs want Rasmus Andersson

According to David Pagnotta, the Dallas Stars and Las Vegas Golden Knights are working hard to make something happen. However, the Maple Leafs are right in the hunt as well.
I still think he's getting moved; we know the usual Dallas and Vegas suspects, we know Toronto's kicked the tires; I could see LA getting back into that discussion
The Leafs are having some success in finishing out 2025, and with a playoff spot now within reach, a player like Rasmussen could prove to be the right move.
It was previously reported that a prospect and a first-round pick could be enough to acquire Rasmussen. Earlier in the season, Matias Maccelli was rumored to be on the table.
Whatever the case may be, it would appear as though the Toronto Maple Leafs officially have a path to getting what they want, and Treliving is actively in pursuit.
With the Olympic break coming up in about a month from now, it will be fascinating to see if the Leafs can get something done.
