The Toronto Maple Leafs have shown interest in a Rasmus Andersson trade, and now, the Calgary Flames are making it clear when they want a trade to happen.

For months now, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been showing serious interest in defenseman Rasmus Andersson, who currently plays for the Calgary Flames.
The Leafs are desperate for an offensively minded right-shot defenseman, and Andersson fits that description perfectly. Meanwhile, the Flames have wanted to trade him for a while now.
It feels as though the Maple Leafs and the Los Angeles Kings are currently the two teams in the running for Andersson. It was even revealed that Andersson is willing to sign an extension in Toronto.
With all of that being said, time is running out, especially with the trade deadline coming up in March, and the Olympic roster freeze beginning on February 4th.

Calgary Flames set a timeline for Ramus Andersson

According to Frank Seravalli, the Flames are fully aware of the time crunch and are looking to get a trade done in the next month.
Of course, this is an exciting prospect for the Toronto Maple Leafs, who now have a chance to make a huge roster move in the next few weeks.
I know for certain the Flames would like to try and make a move with Rasmus Andersson somewhere between the holiday freeze ending and that Olympic freeze [Feb. 4] beginning; I don't think they wanna leave this to the other side of the Olympics
The Maple Leafs are in last place in the Atlantic Division, and one of their weak points has been the offense. However, an offensive defenseman like Andersson could turn things around.

How much does Ramus Andersson cost?

Overall, an Andersson trade could prove to be costly for the Leafs. Last season, the Flames wanted a prospect and a first-round pick. Now, Andersson is a rental and could end up fetching a lot less.
Whatever the case may be, Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has a lot to think about right now, and it remains to be seen what he will decide.
