Evgeny Kuznetsov is currently looking at a return to the NHL, and the Toronto Maple Leafs are one of the teams thinking of bringing in the Stanley Cup winner.
Since the departure of Mitch Marner, the Toronto Maple Leafs have been interested in adding a top-six forward to the roster.
While Max Domi and Matias Maccelli will likely take Marner's spot, there is still a hole on this team, and general manager Brad Treliving would love to fill it.
This has led to numerous trade rumors, although there have been very few free agency updates, mostly due to the fact that there are no players available.

Well, that could change as Evgeny Kuznetsov is eyeing a return to the NHL following a stint with SKA of the KHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs are intrigued, and there is a sense that something is coming.
In fact, a new report is suggesting that the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Florida Panthers are the final two candidates to sign Kuznetsov.

Given Kuznetsov's struggles in the NHL over the past few seasons, it seems pretty obvious that a deal for the forward would be quite cheap and low on risk.
However, the Maple Leafs also have to weigh whether or not this is actually a road that they want to go down right now.
There is a risk that Kuznetsov comes in and messes with the team's chemistry, which puts you back at square one.
