Toronto Maple Leafs Put Three Forwards on Waivers with Roster Cuts Coming
Today was a hard day for the Toronto Maple Leafs as they put three forwards on waivers ahead of their preseason match against the Montreal Canadiens.
With the Toronto Maple Leafs looking to play the Montreal Canadiens today, the team is making some very difficult decisions about its roster.
Cuts are coming very soon, and in the interim, the team is also trying to put some players on waivers, which will whittle down the team even more.
For example, three forwards were put on waivers today, which makes sense when you consider the abundance of forwards this team currently has.
Toronto Maple Leafs make some waiver moves
The three forwards in question are Vinni Lettieri, Travis Boyd, and Bo Groulx. These are all players who were mostly brought in as guys who would eventually play for the Marlies.
Should they clear waivers, that is exactly where they will be going. It's tough, but this move was ultimately for the best.
The Leafs have too many forwards right now, and there was just no way that any of these three players were going to end up on the team.
NHL training camp can be a cruel mistress, and all of these players are finding that out as we speak.
We hope that Lettieri, Groulx, and Boyd are able to keep their head up throughout all of this. We know for a fact that they will grow as players.
Only time will tell who else is next on the Maple Leafs chopping block, especially with tonight's game about to go down.
The Leafs are in a good place with their roster, and we cannot wait to see what is about to happen next.
