Toronto Maple Leafs podcaster issues controversial take on Easton Cowan

Toronto Maple Leafs forward Easton Cowan has shown lots of promise so far, but the team has been so bad that it almost feels like he should be elsewhere.
Easton Cowan has played 11 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs this season, and during that time, he has four points.
Cowan has played a lot better than his production showcases, although the Leafs as a whole just haven't been very good, which has suppressed the rookie's statistics.
On Saturday night, Cowan had another good game, but yet again, he didn't get any points, and the Leafs ended up losing the game.
Should Easton Cowan be with the Toronto Maple Leafs?
After the game, the 'Leafs Talk' podcast with JD Bunkis and Sam McKee spoke about the Cowan situation, and whether or not any of this is healthy for him.
This led to a hot take from Bunkis, who said if the Leafs are going to be bad this year, they should let Cowan play with the Toronto Marlies instead.
I don't want [Easton Cowan] to feel entitled... I don't need that culture to trickle down to the next generation of younger players.
While many fans disagree with this, it is easy to see where Bunkis is coming from right now. At the end of the day, you don't want Cowan to develop bad habits.
Overall, the Toronto Maple Leafs are a team that is underperforming, and Cowan isn't learning what he should learn this season.
Not to mention, once the Maple Leafs are fully healthy, Cowan will be heading back to the American Hockey League anyway.
Ultimately, this is a unique situation, and it will be interesting to see what the Leafs do with Cowan next.
