The Toronto Maple Leafs have been in need of defensemen, and as it turns out, the Buffalo Sabres have two left-handed shots who could be of use to the team.

Throughout this most recent NHL season, it has become crystal clear that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in need of some extra defensemen.
They have had numerous injuries to the blue line, which is aging quite rapidly. Not to mention, they are lacking offense on the back end, which has hurt players like Auston Matthews and William Nylander.
The goal for general manager Brad Treliving should be to get younger and to get more talented with the puck. As it turns out, there are players available to suit these needs.
According to David Pagnotta, two of these defensemen play for the Buffalo Sabres, and they are both young talents with bright futures ahead.

Bowen Byram and Owen Power are available

These two players are Owen Power and Bowen Byram, who are 23 and 24 years old, respectively. They are both offensive defensemen and have left-handed shots.
They are the type of players that the Leafs could use right now, even if they do have an abundance of left-handed defensemen on the roster.
Two guys that teams checked in on; this would be talent-for-talent; if they can add another piece up front...by moving out one of those guys...I think that's something that would be enticing to them
Of course, a trade for Byram or Power would involve the Leafs trading an offensive player, like a Matias Maccelli or Nick Robertson...or both.
The Leafs would not be able to afford both guys. They would have to choose one. Given what we know about the Leafs, it seems like Byram would be the safer bet.
Leafs general manager Brad Treliving has some tough decisions to make, although with the Buffalo Sabres on a roll, one has to wonder if they are willing to sell at all right now.
