Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Anthony Stolarz is finally getting healthy, and now that he is going to the Toronto Marlies, a plan has been laid out.
Anthony Stolarz has been out of the Toronto Maple Leafs' lineup for over two months, and it has been a difficult time for the team.
With Joseph Woll and Dennis Hildeby at the helm, the goaltending has been inconsistent. Hildeby still needs development, while Woll is missing his tandem partner.
Earlier today, the Leafs got some great news on the Stolarz front, as it was revealed that the netminder would be going to the Toronto Marlies for a conditioning stint.
This means the goalie is closer than ever to returning to the lineup. According to Chris Johnston, the Leafs have hatched a unique plan here.
The plan for Anthony Stolarz has been revealed
Typically, when a goalie goes on a conditioning stint, he gets into a game. This is where he can feel the puck again and prove his NHL capability.
As it turns out, this is not what Stolarz is going to go through. Instead, the Maple Leafs are going to have him practice with the Marlies, and then he will return.
If you were hoping to see Stolarz play a real game with the Toronto Marlies, you are going to be disappointed, because it's not happening.
Overall, the Maple Leafs are going to need Stolarz here as the season comes to a close. They want a playoff spot, and they want consistency.
While Stolarz struggled at the start of the season, it does feel like he will be able to have a bounce-back final stretch and exorcise some demons.
If not, then the Maple Leafs' playoff hopes are in all sorts of trouble.
