Craig Berube reveals the Alternate Captains
According to a recent interview with Jonas Siegel of The Athletic, Berube and the Maple Leafs will largely be keeping things the same going forward.
Morgan Rielly and John Tavares will remain as alternate captains for the franchise. However, no one else will be given an A. Auston Matthews remains captain.
Per Craig Berube:
We thought about that and discussed it. I think we leave the A's with Morgan (Rielly) and JT. But our leadership group is more than that, and that's what matters for me. You don't have to have an A on or anything like that to be a leader. We have our leadership group and that group's strong, and I think all the guys understand that. I think we'll just leave the A's with Morgan and JT right now. Whether that changes or not, it could. But right now, it's not.
This is probably for the best, given the fact that the Toronto Maple Leafs are entering a transitional season that will be trying times for everyone involved.
Overall, it is going to be an interesting season, and the fans of the franchise are going to be invested in the growth of every single player on the roster.
