Toronto Maple Leafs Working on Trade with the Calgary Flames
Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brad Treliving used to work for the Calgary Flames, and it seems like he wants to make a deal with his former team.
The Toronto Maple Leafs are a team strapped for assets right now, and it feels very unlikely that they will make a big move anytime soon.
However, that doesn't mean general manager Brad Treliving hasn't been working the phones. In fact, he has been hard at work, making sure the Leafs are in a good spot this season.
Without Mitch Marner on the team, the Leafs are going to be lacking on the offensive end, and Treliving has been working to rectify that.
Meanwhile, they also need a puck-moving defenseman. As it turns out, Treliving's former team, the Calgary Flames, have both of these players.

According to Ryan Leslie, Treliving has been in contact with Flames general manager Craig Conroy, and there is ongoing discourse between the two
"I know Brad Treliving and Craig Conroy are close and have regular dialogue," Leslie said. "It just has to be the right fit -- two parties coming to agreement. I don't think there is anything preventing it. It's hard to make deals. If the right fit were to be there, certainly there would an ability to make a deal."
Nazem Kadri and Rasmus Andersson are the two players that stick out right now as it pertains to a Leafs and Flames trade.
Whether or not the Leafs have the assets to make either of those two deals happen remains to be seen. Although for now, it isn't looking too good.
Going into the regular season, fans should not expect the Leafs to make any more moves. Instead, they should simply expect the team to keep things as is, at least for right now.
If the team gets off to a poor start, then perhaps something will change. For now, status quo.
