The Toronto Maple Leafs have the chance to wrap up their first round series in Ottawa, but now, it's been revealed that two key announcers won't be there.

Through two games of the Battle of Ontario, the Toronto Maple Leafs have outscored Ottawa 9-4 en route to a 2-0 lead, and now, the series shifts to the nations capital for games three and four.
With all the momentum in hand, confidence is high for Toronto, but now, some bad news has been revealed for Maple Leafs fans, as iconic radio announcers Joe Bowen and Jim Ralph are reportedly not going to be there to call those games.
I find out that Joe Bowen and Jim Ralph will not be travelling with the Maple Leafs. These are two legends in this market. You turn on the radio, you've done it a billion times, I've done it a billion times; you hear Joe Bowen and Jim Ralph cover the Maple Leafs games.

They don't travel because this is a post-pandemic thing. Well, newsflash it's 2025. I couldn't believe my ears and mind when I heard this from multiple people in the press box last night.

That comes from Leafs reporter Nick Alberga, who revealed that neither will be taking the trip, which will be a huge loss to Toronto fans given how iconic both are to the story of the franchise.
Jay Rosehill, Alberga's co-host was just as annoyed with the situation, calling it a stupid decision from someone in power, especially given how crucial these two are to the radio experience for Maple Leafs fans.
It's kind of surprising, there has to be someone in the executive branch who made that call. They're a staple, you go and shoot the s*** with them, you see them in the lobby, say hi, they're there. The voices are iconic, you don't even need to see them you know what they look like just from hearing them.

It's sad they aren't coming, it's not a money thing, it makes me think somebody yup there has decided they don't want that around the team. It's probably a stupid reason that someone in power decided to shut that down.

The hope is that this won't distract anyone on the ice, and if the Maple Leafs come home with a 4-0 series sweep in hand, it's something that no one will think about much, but it's still a decision that does a major disservice to the loyal Toronto fans.
