Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander is set to return to the lineup soon, and at practice, he offered a potential timeline of events.
William Nylander has been dealing with a lower-body injury this season, and despite numerous attempts to improve his condition, he has yet to get a handle on the ailment.
It's been an unfortunate thing to witness, all things considered. The Leafs could use the forward right about now, although he remains out of the lineup.
This has caused lots of frustration in Leafs Nation, and with the Leafs continuing to lose games, Nylander's absence looms large.
However, the team did end up getting some very good news on Monday at practice, with Nylander delivering a tangible update on his condition.
William Nylander has a timeline
The Leafs play the Buffalo Sabres at home on Tuesday, and for now, that is off the table. However, on Thursday, the Leafs go on the road for four games before the Olympics.
It is here where they will play the Seattle Kraken, Edmonton Oilers, Calgary Flames, and Vancouver Canucks. The hope is for Nylander to be ready for the road trip.
Hopefully will be back playing some time on the road trip so that's where I have my mind at
While there is no guarantee that the forward will be healthy in time for those games, it at least feels like he wants to put a timeline on things.
This should give the Maple Leafs some confidence moving forward. However, there is no guarantee that Nylander changes this team's fortunes.
It is a very sad reality, and it is one that the Leafs are just going to have to grapple with from this point forward.
