Canucks President Under Fire for Tampering by Trying to Reunite the Hughes Brothers

Vancouver Canucks president Jim Rutherford could soon be getting a call from the NHL after apparently tampering by trying to re-unite the Hughes brothers.
The year is over for the Vancouver Canucks, who failed to make the Stanley Cup Playoffs just a year removed from winning the Pacific Division and advancing to Game 7 of the Western Conference Semi Finals.
During his media availability to recap the year that was, Canucks president Jim Rutherford raised eyebrows everywhere with what appeared to be, on the surface, blatant tampering.
The Canucks are led by captain Quinn Hughes, who is one of the best defensemen in the NHL. Meanwhile, Quinn's brother Jack Hughes is one of the best forwards in the NHL and currently plays for the New Jersey Devils.
Defenseman Luke Hughes, the 3rd brother, also plays for the Devils. And while it's understandable that the brothers have likely spoken privately with one another about playing together on the same team, Rutherford took it to another level.
He very well could soon be receiving a call from the NHL about what he had to say about trying to get both Jack and Luke on the same team as Quinn.
He said before he wants to play with his brothers, and that would be partly out of our control; in our control if we brought his brothers here. So, there's many moving parts here; I agree 100% that this franchise cannot afford to lose a guy like Quinn Hughes.
And we will do everything we can to keep him here, but at the end of the day, it'll be his decision....well we gotta be careful with tampering here, so we'll just leave it at that.
