Blake Wheeler is reportedly in his final days with the Winnipeg Jets
It's no question that the Blake Wheeler has likely played his last game with the Winnipeg Jets organization and it appears that his days in the Manitoba capital are 'numbered'.
According to Steve Dangle, he's hearing that Wheeler's days in Winnipeg are numbered and that he most likely will be bought out by the Jets.
"I've heard Blake Wheeler's days in Winnipeg are numbered. Still a chance he moves but most likely option is a buyout.
According to @CapFriendly his $8.25 million cap hit would be $2.75 million for two seasons." Dangle said.
Wheeler, 36, is the longest tenured Winnipeg Jet and even spent 23 games with the organization when they were the Atlanta Thrashers during their final season in Georgia. In total, Wheeler appeared in 897 games across parts of 13 seasons with the Thrashers/Jets.
The Plymouth, Minnesota native is the Thrashers/Jets' all-time leader in several categories including games played (897), assists (550), points (812). Wheeler also spent six season as the Jets' captain before having it stripped off him prior to the 2022-23 campaign by head coach Rick Bowness.
