Things in Winnipeg get even worse as player calls out his coach during exit interview
The Winnipeg Jets bowed out of the Stanley Cup playoffs in just 5 games against the Vegas Golden Knights. After the game, head coach Rick Bowness wasn't happy and let his team know during his media availability.
Now, according to TSN's John Lu, forward Blake Wheeler sounds off on how his coach handled the situation; take a look:
#NHLJets Wheeler's reaction to Bowness' blunt Game 5 postgame comments: 'I thought Bones had an opportunity to address us as a team. He could've been honest with us, handled it behind closed doors I didn't like how he handled himself after the game.'
Things in Winnipeg haven't been good for some time, now there seems to be a public problem between the coach and his players. It's just another thing to add to the turmoil in Jets land.
I agree with Wheeler here to an extent, there are some things that should stay behind closed doors, but sometimes emotions get the better of everyone after a tough loss.
The question has to be asked, is a coaching change in order already in Winnipeg, or, do you start to look at moving certain players out? It's evident there's a problem in that dressing room, is it time to look at a personnel change that doesn't mean firing another coach?
