It's been said a million times, mostly because it's true: goaltenders are a different breed. A KHL netminder snapped on a player after getting hit, and the player wanted none of it, going into full turtle mode.
Goalie Mikhail Berdin of Sochi, a 6th round pick of the Winnipeg Jets in 2016, was not happy after a rush by Kunlun Red Star that ended with Devin Brosseau running him over. The referee's arm went up instantly, indicating a penalty, but that wasn't enough for Berdin. He threw off his glove and blocker and squared up with Brosseau, taking him down with a couple of smack. Berdin wanted to keep going, but Brosseau just put his hands over his head in an attempt to protect himself.
Berdin spent parts of three seasons with the Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Jets, before heading back home to play hockey in 2022. Brosseau, who is from Quebec, was never drafted into the NHL. Brosseau played some games with the Bakersfield Condors on the AHL before also heading to Russia in 2022.
