Last night the Edmonton Oilers took on the Winnipeg jets at home in what ultimately was a losing effort in overtime, but sometimes, things that happen on the ice or bigger than the final score, like the notable absence of Connor McDavid the final minutes of the 3rd period and overtime.
McDavid appeared to grab his left side when entering the offensive zone with under 5 minutes to go in the 3rd period before heading off to the bench in pain; take a look.
Shortly after, TSN's Ryan Rishaug said that McDavid's injury appeared to be something muscular but there wasn't much of an update to go other than that as of yet.
Edmonton didn't provide any comment on McDavid's injury after the game which can't be good.
Certainly for the Oilers they would hope that McDavid's injury is nothing serious as that would be nothing short of a catastrophic loss, but we'll have to wait and see if the Oilers provide further comment on a timeline.
