2022 Winter Olympian among two placed on waivers for November 23rd
A pair of players have landed on the waiver wire on American Thanksgiving, including a 2022 Winter Olympian, according to TSN's Chris Johnston.
In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Johnson shared that Tampa Bay Lightning goaltender Matt Tomkins and Minnesota Wild forward Vinni Lettieri have been placed on waivers for the purpose of being assigned to the American Hockey League.
"Placed on NHL waivers: Vinni Lettieri (MIN) and Matt Tomkins (TB)" Johnston said.
Tomkins, 29, has appeared in three games this season for the Lightning where he has a record of 1-2-0 along with a 3.40 goals against average and an .889 save percentage. With Tomkins going on waivers, this likely signals the return of Andrei Vasilevskiy, who has yet to play this season due to an injury.
Lettieri, 28, has suited up in 11 games with the Minnesota Wild so far this season, putting up two goals, four penalty minutes and is a minus-four. He's also played in four games for the Wild's AHL affiliate in Iowa where he has three points.
