When hockey has been your entire life for as long as you can remember, retiring from the game, especially at the National Hockey League level. Sometimes there's nothing you can do about injuries, but it's never easy. In the case of Cody Hodgson, he burst into the scene out of junior and then was forced to retire at 26 years old due to Malignant Hyperthermia.

Now, according to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the 33 year old has been given a clean bill of health and is looking to make an NHL comeback; take a look.

Malignant Hyperthermia is typically caused by certain medical drugs in anesthesia that causes rapid heart rate, rigid muscles and other symptoms that can be life threatening if not taken care of right away.

Hodgson, played 328 career games split between Vancouver, Buffalo and Nashville scoring 64 goals and adding 78 assists for a total of 142 points.

This would be an amazing story if he was able to return to the NHL as a player at some point, but it's even greater that he's not only able to play hockey again and has received a clean bill of health.
