Another embarrassing defensive effort by Connor McDavid costs the Edmonton Oilers
Connor McDavid is without a doubt the most talented player in the world. His ability to turn a game at a moment's notice is second to absolutely no one. Unfortunately those offensive abilities and mindset doesn't always carry over to the defensive side of the game for McDavid.
When McDavid is disinterested or unengaged on the defensive side of the puck it often leads to trouble for the Oilers. That's exactly what happened tonight as McDavid decided to take a shift off in the defensive zone and the puck quickly ended up in the Oilers net.
Jack Campbell who is in goal continues to struggle for the Oilers, but with defense like this it's no wonder his numbers look so bad. Tonight he continues to sport a save percentage under .900 on the night.
