Arizona Coyote's legend son scores first goal at their new College arena
Sometimes it's hard not be romantic about the game of hockey. This summer it was announced that the Arizona Coyotes would be moving to the 5,000 seat home arena or the University of Arizona Sun Devils. Even though the arena is share with an NHL team, the University team has priority access to the facility.
That means the first game played at Mullett Arena would be played by the Sun Devils. Last night the Sun Devils hosted their first game of their season. Late in the first period the facility was christened with it's very first goal.
So who score the first goal in the facilities history? The first goal scorer just happened to be the son of Arizona Coyote's legend, Shane Doan.
Josh Doan is a second round pick of the Coyotes, having been selected 37th overall. Doan played the last two seasons in the USHL before transferring to University of Arizona. This was an incredible moment for both the Sun Devils and the Coyotes.
