Avalanche trying to land the two biggest names on the rental market!

The Colorado Avalanche over the past few seasons have been favourites to win the Stanley Cup, only to fizzle out in the playoffs.

This season they currently have a 9 point lead in the Central division and lead the entire NHL in points. So once again, great regular season team, but do they have what it takes to make it deep in the playoffs?

After this season, MacKinnon only has one year left on his very team friendly contract and with Kadri currently having a career year and another notable player Burakovsky both needing new contracts at the end of this season, the Avalanche need to make a push to win the cup now.

So to give the team the best chance at success this year, the Avalanche are apparently heavily in on two of the biggest rentals on the market, Claude Giroux & Marc-Andre Fleury. Both players would not only add tremendous skill to the team but also bring a lot of leadership and playoff experience along with them. Fleury a 3 time Stanley Cup champion and Giroux a long-time Captain and veteran of 85 playoff games would bring the leadership this young team might be lacking when it counts most.
