Perhaps one of the most intriguing free agent names on the market this off-season is nearing a decision on where he will work next season. There have been numerous rumours surrounding Barry Trotz since he was let go by the New York Islanders.
Many questions have surrounded him, is he going to continue his coaching career? Is he going to step into a management role within an organization? Is he going to retire? Nobody knows the answer to that question yet, but an answer is expected to come shortly.
According to Pierre LeBrun of TSN, Trotz is expected to make a decision on his future in the National Hockey League around July 1st. At least that is what he has been telling teams around the league.
Of note here as well Darren Dreger also of TSN said that Trotz is expected to meet with the Winnipeg Jets again this coming week. That's another thing to keep an eye on.
For a respected person within the NHL Trotz sure is exploring all of his options coaching or otherwise after turning down the Philadelphia Flyers and their record-breaking 7-plus million dollar offer to coach them earlier this month.
For Trotz, it appears at this stage in his illustrious career, only the fit seems to matter, he could care less about the money
