Luke Richardson has an impressive track record in the NHL. Having played 1400+ NHL games, coached an AHL team and was an Assistant Coach for the Canadiens, the only thing missing in his resume is NHL Head Coach. With the Montreal Canadiens inking a deal with Marty St-Louis, Richardson had no other choice but to look elsewhere to finally get his break as an NHL Head Coach.
According to Frank Seravalli, the Chicago Blackhawks are finalizing a deal with Richardson for the Head Coaching position. When the deal goes through, this will make Richardson the 40th coach in the Blackhawks franchise.
Richardson definitely has what it takes to be Head Coach of an Original 6 team and will definitely have his hands full with the rebuild that the Blackhawks are set to begin.
