Breaking News - Calgary Flames fans worst nightmare comes true as Johnny Gaudreau makes decision
The Calgary Flames were hoping to get Johnny Gaudreau locked up to an 8-year contract. Even today General Manager, Brad Treliving made Gaudreau an offer of $10,500,000 for each of the next 8-years. Unfortunately for the Flames it appears that Gaudreau has decided he'd rather test free agency.
Hearing that Johnny Gaudreau has decided to test free agency.
By testing free agency Gaudreau will forfeit the possibility of signing an 8-year contract and he will be capped at signing a 7-year maximum.
Gaudreau is coming off a 115 point year, which put him in the best possible position going forward. Gaudreau has been connected to the Flyers, Islanders and Devils as potential suitors.
Update: According to Frank Seravalli, Gaudreau has actually informed the Flames he will not be returning to Calgary and not that he will be testing free agency.
