The Matthew Tkachuk saga is over almost as quickly as it started. After informing the Calgary Flames he had no intentions of signing a contract, Tkachuk was immediately placed on the trade block. Less than 3 days later, Tkachuk has a new home.

According to Insider Frank Seravalli, Tkachuk has been traded to the Florida Panthers.
Tkachuk immediately signed a MASSIVE extension with the Panthers.

The Flames received a huge return in exchange for Tkachuk.

To #FlaPanthers:
Matthew Tkachuk (extension in place)

To #Flames:
Jonathan Huberdeau, MacKenzie Weegar, Cole Schwindt and a 1st round pick.

The 1st round pick will be in 2025 or 2026 as the Panthers previously traded their 2024 pick to the Philadelphia Flyers in the Claude Giroux deal.
