Bruins coach forced to make major lineup changes to find Perfection in his lineup
Game 3 will be as close to a must win game for the Boston Bruins given the fact they have lost the first 2 games of the series. Bruce Cassidy is digging deep into his bag of tricks and his latest is reuniting the perfection line. Boston has been lagging offensively while taking beatings from Carolina, he is hoping this will re-charge their offensively play, and turn the tide for game 3. Patrice Bergeron will center Pastrnak and Marchand on the top line as if it ever made sense to break them up.
Obviously, we need to be a little better. I think it's the perfect time. Playing with those guys, we've been together for a while. So we know what to expect from each other and I'm excited. It's been a while so it's going to be fun tonight.
Hampus Lindholm, injured by Hurricanes winger, Andrei Svechnikov has been ruled out for Game 3. After the hit, the Blueliner was not able to get up on his own without help from Linus Ullmark and Bruins' training staff.
According to Bruce Cassidy the defenseman "Is not doing well"
There is still questions whether he will be able to travel after his return to Boston from the last game.
In goalie news, Linus Ullmark will not be between the pipes, after giving up 10 goals in 2 losses against the Hurricanes.
Cassidy hasn't solely blamed Ullmark for both losses, but has determined to go with Swayman for Game 3. He explains:
I think Linus has been fine. As I said after Game 1, I think we've got to do a better job at the other end, but if it ends up being one of those 2-1 games, we need a performance where we get that timely save and give the guys some life. That's where we're at right now. They're scoring goals and they're not giving very many up. There's a little bit to do with both things.
I'm not saying Ullmark's the reason, he's not, but Swayman's going to be in there. He'll get his opportunity. We talked about maybe at some point using both, so it's going to be (Friday). Hopefully he's up for the task.
