Inevitably, all this talk has whipped the fanbase into a panic. in an appearance on Sportsnet's Tim and Friends, Insider Frank Seravalli was there to calm the fears of Leafs' fans.
Talk of Matthews leaving when his contract is up has been rampant since the reigning Hart, Lindsay and Rocket RIchard winner signed a 5 year contract with the Maple Leafs paying him $11.634 million dollars per year. Seravalli believes that Matthews will be a career Leaf, great news for any fan of the blue and white. I think that the original 5 year deal was decided on so that when Matthews signs his 8 year extension 2 seasons from now, he'll be younger and able to demand a higher salary from the Maple Leafs. As a Leafs fan myself, I honestly don't care what Matthews makes, I just want to see him in a Leafs jersey for as long as possible.
