Over the last week, one of the strangest storylines in the NHL has been unfolding, and it now feels like the media has received their last update on the situation. Corey Perry will be away from the team for the foreseeable future' according to Blackhawks GM Kyle Davidson.
The Blackhawks signed Perry to a one year, $4M contract this offseason to provide a veteran presence to the rebuilding team. His start to the season was relatively successful, scoring 4 goals and 9 points in 16 games.
Then suddenly, Perry disappeared from the Blackhawks. Before their game in the Columbus, the Hawks announced Perry was a healthy scratch as an organizational decision', but he hasn't been spotted in practice or around the team since then.
However, it was revealed that it's a organizational decision to keep him away from the team.
It's impossible to speculate on the matter, but clearly there's something significant going on in Perry's life right now which the team is wishing to keep quiet. For now, we can only wish that he's healthy and working through whatever is holding him out of games.
