When it comes to the NHL's Department of Player Safety you should expect the unexpected. George Parros has developed a reputation of being inconsistent at best. Today, he may be required to make a difficult decision.

During last night's game between the Colorado Avalanche and New Jersey Devils on a single shift. Ross Colton found himself in hot water. As defender Luke Hughes chased the puck towards the end boards Colton delivered a dangerous hit from behind before Hughes touches the puck.

After the hit a scrum formed and that's where Colton got himself into even more trouble. As he was approached by Timo Meier, Colton lifts his stick and delivers a cross check directly to the face of Meier.

Colton was ejected on the play for the high stick, but he was only given a 2 minute minor for boarding on the play. It is likely he will expect a call from the league at some point today for his actions.
