On last night's RDS broadcast of the Montreal Canadiens game, Norman Flynn stated that while he's no insider, he has it on very good authority that Patrick Roy was at a restaurant in Kanata yesterday, the suburb of Ottawa where the Senators arena is currently located.
One of Flynn's co-hosts tried to shrug it off, saying Roy is allowed to dine out.
Flynn is absolutely right. If this is a coincidence, it's a very big one. It's worth noting that Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman recently said one of the unsuccessful bids for the Ottawa Senators included an immediate take over behind by the bench by Roy.
After promising fans a bounce back year, the Sens are currently 4-6-0 to start the season, and not looking like a competitive team at all. There are rumours coach D.J. Smith will end up taking the fall if this continues, which is usually the case in the NHL.
