Edmonton media and fans already beginning to turn on Jack Campbell after only 4 periods
Jack Campbell was considered the Edmonton Oilers top offseason acquisition. On July 13th the Oilers and Campbell agreed to a 5 year deal worth $25,000,000. This after Campbell was named an All-Star with the Leafs last season.
Unfortunately that All-Star appearances was heavily inflated by the month of November when Campbell was nearly unbeatable. Beyond that Campbell was below average posting a sub .900 save percentage from January to April.
Now it appears early on that Campbell has yet to find his form. In the first period of his first game he gave up 3 early goals before settling in. But last night against the Calgary Flames, Jack gave up another 4 goals, this time on only 10 shots in less than 11 minutes of ice time.
This has led to Edmonton media member Mark Spector already beginning to call out the goaltender.
Might be fair to ask Campbell for a save at some point...
Edmonton media is notorious for finding a player and piling on. It will be very interesting to see how Campbell bounces back especially if the outside noise continues to get louder. Especially as Oilers fans begin to pile on.
