Matt Duchene receives misconduct penalty for abuse of officials after a terrible call
With the Dallas Stars already leading the game 3-0, Matt Duchene was called for a phantom hook. As Duchene pursued Tyler Seguin, he tries to make a play on the Star's forwards stick. At no point does Duchene make contact with Seguin's hands on the play.
Despite the lack of contact the referee's arm went up and Duchene was understandably incensed. With his team already chasing the game he receives an awful penalty. The entire way to the box Duchene lets the officials know exactly how he feels.
Rather than having a simple conversation with Duchene the officials decided to take on a 10 minute misconduct penalty and sent him to the locker room.
The Stars went onto win 5-1 and Duchene would return early in the 3rd after serving his penalty.
