San Jose defenseman Erik Karlsson is off to an excellent start to the season. While some had written him off the last few seasons, this year he looks like the productive Erik Karlsson that we're accustomed to. Last night in San Jose's 3-2 victory over Minnesota, Karlsson had an extremely embarrassing moment during the game. While San Jose was on the power play, Karlsson had possession of the puck and was skating backwards along the blueline trying to line up an open lane to shoot. Suddenly he caught an edge and fell humiliatingly. Minnesota picked up the loose puck went down the ice and down on a two on zero breakaway and scored.

While it was a funny moment to watch, it had to be frustrating for Karlsson. On the plus side, the Sharks didn't let that bother them. Karlsson had a late assist on a game tying third period goal and the Sharks won in overtime.

Hockey is a funny game at times. Sometimes embarrassing plays are going to happen, even to the best players. What's important is that the team perseveres during the game and not let it bother them. Let's hope Karlsson puts this moment behind him and continues his great season.
