This is one of the worst slashes I've seen in a notable pro hockey league in a while. The Swedish Hockey League (SHL) featured a vicious two-handed slash that led to a match penalty.

Lukas Jasek hit an opponent with his stick out of the blue. It was clearly intentional, and he put a lot of force behind it.

Joel Lundqvist, twin brother of goaltending legend Henrik Lundqvist, provides commentary for TV4 in Sweden. He called it a straight-up assault.

"It's not nice. It's an assault to rap someone like that, a clear match penalty."

I have to think Jasek will get suspended for at least four to five games for a slash that blatant. The 26-year-old was drafted by the Vancouver Canucks in 2015. He played close to 200 games in the AHL before returning home to continue his career.
