Former Top 10 pick placed on waivers
A bit of surprising name hitting the waiver wire today. Minnesota Wild have placed the 24-year-old forward, Tyson Jost on waivers.
With Jordan Greenway and other players returning from injury, Jost has found himself on the outside looking in. The 10th overall pick from 2016, was acquired by Minnesota for forward Nico Sturm. Jost has had a poor start to the season with only three points in twelve games played.
He was being outperformed by AHL call-ups Mason Shaw, Brandon Duhaime and even Connor Dewar. In Thursday's 6-4 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins, Jost saw a season-low 7:54.
Jost has been a healthy scratch multiple times this season. His poor offensive production and even worse defensive play have landed him in the doghouse for both head coach Dean Evason and the Wild's management team.
Jost is in the final year of a two-year deal signed with the Avalanche. He has a $2 million cap hit and will be a RFA with arbitration rights when his current contract expires.
