A tragic scene during an amateur hockey game involving a goaltender. According to reports, the 62-year-old was warming up for a game in New Moscow over the weekend, but collapsed to the ice and passed away before medical help could get to him.
Sadly, it appears a lack of medical personnel at the scene was likely a factor in the man's death. Stolyarov said players themselves decided not to have them there as it would make playing in the league too expensive.
Paramedics did eventually arrive on the scene and tried to revive the goaltender, but it was too late. This is the second death of an amateur player in Russia this month, with another 60-year-old dying under similar circumstances a couple of weeks ago.
