Incredible update on what Darcy Kuemper went through to return after eye injury
When Ryan Johansson's stick struck Darcy Kuemper in the eye it was clear that he was in trouble. The goalie was in such excruciating pain he wasn't even able to make it off the ice. Kuemper fell to the ice before finally being helped off the ice but a trainer.
While Kuemper eventually made his way back to the lineup, it wasn't without a struggle. Yesterday Jared Bednar provided an update on the level of struggle Kuemper had to go through to get back in the lineup.
During the Stanley Cup playoffs, Bednar says Darcy Kuemper had to go to optometrist 2-3 times a day to "re-train his eye".
Not only did Kuemper have to work his way back into the lineup, but he had to work with a professional to try and re-train his eye. This is an incredible development especially for a goaltender who requires his vision to do even the most basic element of his job.
