This game had a little bit of everything, Pittsburgh who was already without injured starter Tristan Jarry were forced to play backup Casey Desmith. Desmith however ended up leaving the game in the second overtime period due to injury, and the means Louie Domingue, the Penguins' third string goalie was thrust into action and ended up winning the game.
In honour of Domingue's spicy pork and broccoli story between OT periods former longtime NHL net-minder Jean-Sebastian Giguere shared a story about how he used to prep for longer NHL games. According to In Goal Magazine, Giguere used to leave an IV in his arm after the first OT and play with it in, you know, to expedite the hydration process
Anything for the love of the game right? Having an IV in one of your arms in uncomfortable as is, can you imagine taking a puck of the pick site? Makes me cringe just thinking about it. JS Giguere was a different kind of hockey player it seems.
