The Vancouver Canucks are an interesting team, one to keep an eye on for this coming season. But, if they aren't careful, their best player is going to walk into free agency next off-season and never look back.
Canucks' forward and breakout star J.T appeared on the Dropping Gloves Podcast yesterday to explain why he believes he doesn't have a contract with Vancouver yet, while making it clear that he would like to stay, but won't hesitate to walk away.
It's a new fit for our management. It's a new fit for us, you know they were there for three months.
Negotiations, um, we're not as close as we'd like to be so I'm not a hundred percent sure Everybody has a vision, as I said from day one I want to be there, I want to be a part of this
Miller has put it nicely of course, but from the sounds of it, he doesn't sound too confident that General Manager, Jim Rutherford can get a deal done that is agreeable for both sides.
If I'm GMJR, I find a way to get a deal for a 99 point player that has expressed interest in staying with my organization. However, with the moves they've already made this off-season, Rutherford might have already driven the Canucks further into the cap hell created by Jim Benning, for the Nucks to re-sign Miller to an extension.
