Jakob Chychrun trade rumors have been around since the NHL Trade Deadline. Chychrun announced he wasn't interested in being apart of another rebuild in Arizona. While Chychrun wasn't prepared to enter another rebuild, the Coyotes were.
Chychrun, who has been with the Coyotes organization since 2016-2017 has been catching the eyes of the league this past few seasons. His best season with the team was 2020-2021, where put up 41 points in 56 games.
Even then, after the rebuild was announced Chychrun didn't sound happy about it, despite being signed on with the Coyotes for the next 3 years.
According to Craig Morgan there is a hangup in the Chychrun trade talks. Reportedly, Chychrun has a small number of teams who he would consider moving to. Chychrun has reportedly asked Bill Armstrong to trade him to one of those teams, which is interesting given his Modified-NTC on his current contract doesn't kick in until 2023-2024.
It's a toss-up where the young defenseman will land, as a rental or long-term option, either way, whoever wins the Chychrun sweepstakes, will definitely pay more in assets for Bill Armstrong to keep the cap dump in the desert chugging.
