On the hockey Podcast Dropping the Gloves, hockey's beloved John Scott recalls one of his favourite moments of his career. A moment where everyone involved got suspended... except for him.
John Scott was known as a grinder and goon during his playing days. He shared how during a Toronto Maple Leafs versus Buffalo Sabres game, he had gone after star forward Phil Kessel which resulted in an all out brawl.
Brendan Shanahan, who at the time was the Head of Player Safety, wanted to suspend him so badly, but apparently couldn't find anything wrong with his actions on the sequence.
This is one of the best Phil Kessel stories you'll hear, but it's even better when you realize how Shanahan wanted to react.
