Johnny Gaudreau shares they he ''doesn't care'' about the Calgary Flames anymore
Johnny Gaudreau spent the first 9 years of his NHL career with the Calgary Flames. This summer he decided he needed a change and wanted to return closer to home. This led to him ultimately signing a 7 year deal with the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Fans in Calgary accused Gaudreau of stringing the team along before abandoning them completely. But those within the Flames organization haven't said any such thing, and likely won't. Yesterday during pre-season media availability Johnny Gaudreau was asked about the changes in Calgary and he gave a very blunt answer on the topic.
When I say I love Calgary, it's the city. Now that I'm on Columbus, I couldn't care less what they do as a team. I obviously want to beat them. But as a city, the fans, the organization, the way they treated me, I always loved it there. It was a great place to play for the nine years. Once I left, I didn't care anymore about the team, obviously, I'm more focused on the Blue Jackets and what our team is going to do. They got better or they got worse ... I'm not really sure. I'm focused on our team and go from there.
It's clear Gaudreau is tired of answer questions about that's going on in Calgary. He's also probably bitter that he left Calgary for "greener" pastures, and yet somehow the Flames ended up better than they were with Gaudreau.
