Kings Blake Lizotte to have hearing with DoPs after last nights incident
The National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety has been rather busy this season, handing out a lot of suspensions thus far.
today, the Department of Player safety announced that Los Angeles Kings forward Blake Lizotte would have a hearing to determine discipline his actions last night against the Winnipeg Jets.
Los Angeles' Blake Lizotte will have a hearing today for Cross-checking Winnipeg's Josh Morrissey.
Near the end of the second period yesterday, Lizotte cross-checked Jets star defender Josh Morrisey in the head. Lizotte was assessed a 5 minute major and a game misconduct on the play.
With similar plays resulting in a 1-2 game suspension earlier this season, that should be the precedent here. However, the DoPS is anything but consistent, so we'll have to wait and see what Lizotte gets.
Update: the Department of Player Safety has issued a one game game suspension as a result of the play.
