Marian Hossa hasn't appeared in a game since April 2017 due to a skin condition. He was placed on long-term injured reserve to start the 2017-18 season and in May 2018, it was revealed he could no long play professional hockey.

His contract was then traded to Arizona two months later, where it was placed on LTIR. A year later, Hossa was named to the 2020 class of inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame. Chicago would bring Hossa back on a one-day contract in April 2022 to retire as a Blackhawk, before having his number raised to the rafters at the United Center in November of 2022.
This summer in Slovakia, Hossa will suit up for a 'Goodbye Game', which will be the last game he plays and the lineup is loaded with talent.
Among those participating in Hossa's 'Goodbye Game' are Nicklas Lidstrom, Zdeno Chara, Dustin Byfuglien, Nicklas Hjalmarsson, Martin Havlat, Patrick Sharp, Marian Gaborik, Tomas Kopecky, Daniel Alfredsson, Michal Handzus, Miroslav Satan, Michal Rozsival, as well as former Chicago Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews.
The game is set to be held on August 18th in Trencin and proceeds from the gam will go to Marian Hossa's non-profit organization, HOSS Heroes.
The 44-year-old had a great NHL career, appearing in parts of 19 seasons for the Ottawa Senators, Atlanta Thrashers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks, recording 1,134 points in 1,309 games. During his time with the Blackhawks, Hossa won three Stanley Cups.
