Matthew Tkachuk have only played five games for the Florida Panthers and he's already off to an excellent start. In fact, he is the first player in franchise history to start the year on a five game point streak. Tkachuk leads the team in points and has three goals and five assists in five games played. Tkachuck has been skating on a line with Sam Bennett and Rudolfs Balcers.

Tkachuk brings a different style of play to the Panthers then what they had last season. He is a physical and gritty winger who is good around the net and is tough to play against. He also has the skills to score in multiple situations.

The Panthers paid a steep price to acquire Tkachuk last of season. They traded away two key components of their roster by moving MacKenzie Weegar and Jonathan Huberdeau. After a great regular season, the Panthers were swept in the second round by Tampa Bay and general manager Bill Zito went out and made significant changes. He wanted his team tougher and harder to play against. That is the reason they acquired Matthew Tkachuk. No doubt the Panthers have to be pleased with Tkachuk's hot start.

Last season Tkachuk had one hundred four points in eighty two games last season. It was his best season as a pro. It will be interesting to see if he can attain the same point production or surpass that from last year.
