The Toronto Maple Leafs need more grit, there's no question about that. The question is, how do you add «grit» without sacrificing skill? The short answer is, you don't usually, unless your last name is Domi.
According to Elliott's Friedman of Sportsnet, he believes Max Domi is a potential fit in a Leaf uniform. Like father, like son.
Domi, 27, has taken a step back in recent years putting up 39 points in 72 games played last year including 11 goals and 28 assists split between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Carolina Hurricanes last season.
There's no doubt there would be potential for Domi to flourish in the bottom 6 of the Leafs lineup, but I don't know if his temper is worth the risk among other things. His father, Tie was adored while he wore the Maple Leaf, but his temper always landed him in hot water.
